Questions

Homework

Give Yourself Time!

Before heading to your adventure, we encourage you to give yourself time away – we will not force you to pocket your cell phones (you will need them to take photos); however, one of the best ways to get the most from your adventure is to immerse yourself in the day.

Encaustic Class

We encourage you to use a photo you have taken yourself to play with. Think about your positive and negative space and begin by choosing a photo that has about 75 percent light versus dark colors, as light-colored photos have a much better success rate. This workshop's process allows us to paint below and on top of the photograph so keep that in mind when choosing your photo.  More details will be provided closer to the day!

What to Wear

Be prepared to get messy!

We encourage you to dig in the bottom of your closet for some old T-shirts or head out to your local Value Village and get yourself some comfortable clothes that you don’t need to worry about. As parts of Alton Mills can get a bit drafty, it is best to dress in layers.  Bring slippers if you do not want to work in shoes all day. We do have aprons available but not having to worry about your clothing is very freeing!

Activity Details

A FEW COCKTAILS

We believe that starting your day with a Mimosa* can help put you in the right frame of mind and is conducive to the creative experience. Your Adventure will include a evening reception and a fun with a celebratory evening event.  *non alcoholic cocktails available

COMPLETED PROJECTS

Adventurers will go home with a handmade journal, hand painted silk scarf, a 10" x 10" encaustic painting, 11" x 14" abstract painting, inspirational photos, gesture drawings, encaustic and paint worksheets and a variety of artisan crafts.

More importantly we hope you leave with wonderful memories and the confidence and continued desire to create!

JOURNAL WORKSHOP

Create your personal creativity journal to make notes and memories throughout the weekend. Embellish it with photos and stencils as a reminder of your ongoing creative journey.
